1. Preheat your oven to 230°C (fan oven 210°C). Insert the Pop-Rite turkey timer provided with your Forest Lodge Turkey, as detailed in the instructions provided with the timer. Remove the band from around the turkey legs.
-
2. Wrap tin foil around the turkey keeping plenty of space for air to circulate.
-
3. Once at temperature, place your turkey on the bottom oven shelf and reduce the heat to 180°C (fan 160°C) and cook at the suggested time depending on the size of your turkey (see above for suggested cooking time).
Please note: Oven temperatures vary greatly.
-
4. Regularly baste the turkey to retain moisture. Remove the foil for the last 40 minutes of cooking to ensure a perfectly golden brown skin.
-
5. Your pop up timer is a guide only, check your turkey is fully cooked by piercing the thickest part (usually the breast) with a skewer. The juices will run golden and clear when fully cooked.
-
6. Once fully cooked remove the turkey, tip out the juices (keep for the gravy) and allow ‘to rest’ encased in the tin foil for 30 minutes before serving.
